The UAE's longest road, Sheikh Zayed Road, was built from 1971 to 1980. It is named after former UAE President and Abu Dhabi Ruler Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. SZR runs from the Abu Dhabi-Ghweifat International Highway at the Abu Dhabi-Saudi border to the Al Manama-Ras Al Khaimah Road in Oman.
