How Can You Renew Your UAE Driving License ?

Did you know that renewing your licence in Dubai has become super easy?
Thanks to some smart government initiatives, the whole process is a breeze now. It can literally take just about 10 minutes, and most of it can be done online. The only thing you'll need to do in person is the eye test, which you can easily schedule at an authorised optician's shop.

Let's walk through the steps to get you back on the road hassle-free.
Step 1: First things first, get that eye test done! Head over to any optical shop registered with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Make sure to bring along your original UAE driving licence and Emirates ID. If you don't have the physical copies, some shops accept digital versions. You can even add your digital driving licence to your Apple Wallet. The cost usually ranges from AED 140 to AED 180. Once you're done, the specialist will update your test results in the RTA system. You'll get an SMS confirmation, and you're all set to move on to the next step.
Step 2: Make sure all your outstanding fines are settled. You can easily pay them online through the RTA or Dubai Police application. It's a straightforward process.
Step 3: Now, onto the renewal. You've got a few options here:
1.You can visit the RTA website (rta.ae). Just click on 'Driver and Car Owner' in the top menu. Then, under the Licence tab, select 'Apply for renewing a driving license.' Enter your details, and if you don't have an RTA account, they'll guide you through creating one. Once that's done, you're good to go!
2.If you prefer using the app ('RTA Dubai'), just make sure your digital accounts like UAE Pass and RTA account are set up. The renewal process here is super quick, and you'll have your new digital licence on your phone instantly. You can choose to get the physical copy delivered or collect it from a kiosk.
3.Alternatively, you can visit an RTA customer service centre or kiosk. It's another easy way to get your licence renewed and walk out with the physical copy right away.
Step 4: Finally, it's time to get your hands on the new license. If you go the digital route, you'll have it right away. If you opted for a physical copy, you can either have it couriered, pick it up from a customer service centre, or even print it through a smart kiosk.
Choose what works best for you, and you'll be back on the road in no time. Dubai's smart initiatives have really made the renewal process a breeze, don't you think?
